Bridges
By Ruth Rin
Monet’s bridge image you brought from France
Evokes life bridges that we traverse.
Stages of your life and childhood past,
When many a milestone you met and surpassed.
Each crossing leaves part of us behind.
Yet our essence transfers to the other side.
Constant our core values remain,
As through experience -- wisdom we gain.
Contemplating your early years, I find
At a tender age – foreshadowing signs.
When very young, on several occasions,
Your logic held great powers of persuasion.
In the role of a mother you’re a sight to behold,
Poignant for me, as memories unfold
Of your childhood and of mine, long ago,
The bridges of life defining the flow.
Additional bridges await you, my dear,
I hope all will bring you reasons to cheer.
With their caring father, your kids you enjoy,
Wise choices for harmony may you employ.
Wishing you ease, unrushed time
To nurture your body, replenish your soul,
To experience the sublime,
And reaffirm what values in life are prime.
