To Dr. Dietrich, whom I luckily found

When by a bike I was struck down,

Broken ribs when I hit the ground.

To become your patient I was bound.

 

You listened with compassion,

Focused, with full attention.

And your skillful, gentle manner

Won my trust then and thereafter.

 

When I recite all my woes,

Into your notes, detailed info goes!

Making a diagnosis is indispensable.

In determining the outcome, it’s unexpendable!

 

When I’ve needed new medication,

You’ve carefully noted my past reactions.

And adjusted your recommendation

Warranted by the situation.

 

For all of this, my deep appreciation.

I entrust myself to your wise determination:

Your own helping hand you extend,

Or a specialist you recommend.

 

All this I say in truth,

With gratitude from your patient, Ruth.
